Mini- Society Memories

One of our favorite memories in 4th Grade is the opportunity to create a business for Mini-Society. Students learned basic economic principles such as supply and demand, scarcity, inflation, productive resources, profits, and debt throughout this unit. Students put their knowledge to use when they had to create their own business for the school. Each student was to create a business that offered a product or service. Every student was successful! It was an amazing learning experience!

Sounds very exciting. I would love to know more about how you set it up and what currency the students used. Where did they get their ideas?

Thank you Heather! The 4th grade students actually created their own currency for the classroom society. The students in the school paid $1 for $25 mini- society currency. This provided the students in the school more purchasing money for the businesses.
This has been a wonderful learning opportunity for many years at our school. Students receive many ideas from prior classes, as well as discussions about what they would want to purchase at a business.
I would highly recommend this wonderful learning experience!

Welcome to our place to explore, learn, connect and create!
